On November 3rd, 2022, our COO Nur Hayat Nezir held a very special presentation for members and friends of the International Trade Club of Chicago. A delegation from Lower Saxony, Germany comes to New York. The delegation includes roughly 30 enterprises from various industries, as well as 10 representatives from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, led by Dr. Bernd Althusmann, Minister of Economic Affairs.
Russia-Ukraine Conflict – Effects on Global Supply Chains
No supply chain is 100% crisis-proof. This is demonstrated by the consequences of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. In February 2022, the political situation between the two countries had escalated to such an extent that Russia invaded Ukraine militarily. This is currently causing not only terrible humanitarian problems, but also economic consequences that are being felt in Europe and the United States, among other places. More and more global supply chains are in danger of collapsing, both because of the military-related loss of Ukrainian business partners and because of international sanctions against Russia and Russian companies.
Choke Point Risks - Supply Chains under Pressure
Continually, globalization has increased dependencies in world trade. Bottlenecked trade routes in particular are critical for maintaining global supply chains. The recently congested trade routes therefore require an effective risk management.
